Myself and the girlfriend are thinking of doing the Nile Cruise 7 nights package offered by budget travel in September. Were both 25 and just looking for the opinions of anyone who has done it before. What was the age group/ food quality/ nightlife like on the cruise?

    Thanks

Whilst we did not do a cruise we did go to Luxor with Budget in Oct 07.
They charged double the rate for a visa which you can pick up in Luxor airport in the banks on your LHS on entry.
While in Luxor there were a lot of cruise ships docked for day stops etc and we were pretty glad we did not go one one because the average age is nowhere near 25 my friend.
Try a week in Luxor, from there you can visit many of the Egyptian treasures.
In a week we did Cairo Museum, Pyramids, Sphinx, Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, Philae Temple, Kom Ombo Temple, a day cruise to Dendera Temple, Unfinished Obelisk, Aswan Dam, Edfu Temple, trip through the desert to Abu Simbel which in my opinion is simply the best of ancient Egypt, Valley of the Kings/Queens/Nobels, Temple of Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon and a dawn balloon ride across the Valley of the Kings.
We were wrecked when we got back!!!
The place is DIRT cheap, fillet steak meal for €3.50
I found this site invaluable, had everything down to a tee.
Highly recommend the place, people are great and you'll take serious memories home

I went to Egypt for 3 months in 2004. I was backpacking around on my own and as I treat I'd prebooked a Nile Cruise with Kuoni travel. It was pretty expensive for what was a 4 day cruise, from what I remember. The average age was about 50 ish but everyone was great craic. Not much nightlife on my boat, there was a small bar but v. early starts so most people in bed by 10pm. Highly recommend it though, if you book it with budget there's bound to be lots of Irish people on board. It's a totally different experience though and you don't get to see the real Egypt as you are hoarded from one place to the other by the guides. Definately take time to visit places on your own when you're not on the boat. The food was excellent on my boat (can't remember the name sorry , try trip advisor to get reports) You say the package is 7 days, I presume that isn't all cruising and you have a few days in Luxor and Cairo?
