I have to do a medical for a fairly big bank that I have just got a job with. Ive never had one before so im just wondering what do they normally entail. I can remember my mum getting one years ago in Aer Lingus and it was very thorough. Does everyone have to do a pee test?

Any medical I've ever had was: weight, height, pee test, reflex test, abdominal palpating, do you smoke/how much alcohol do you drink/ do you take any drugs or are you on any medication/ ever had any mental health problems...that sort of thing.

If asked about drugs? Should you just lie, ive only ever had a few tokes at parties so Im not going to fail a test.

I had one yesterday and it was general questions about health, absence from work in last 2 years, reasons for same and then a urine sample to test for sugar levels etc which they do in front of you..
    All done in 15 minutes

from what i know medicals today cover
    - eye test
    - hearing test
    - blood test
    - your medical history...ever been hospitalised and why
    - on any medication and why
    - make you touch your toes to check your back for slipped discs; injury and reflexes
    - general questions then

This may be a little to extreme for a bank medical but that's generally what the guards look for these days and all other medicals are about the same

I don't know why this thread reminds me of this story:

When I was about 10, a friend of mine, known for his bull****, went to the local dentist. According to bull**** boy, when the dentist walked into the room, the dentist flipped him over onto his stomach, and then put his hand up his arse. The dentist then threw something into the bin and said "everything looks OK".

In the bin was a rubber glove with a turd in it.

    WTF?!

I don't know how he managed to make up that story!

    Anyway...

OP: Yeah, medicals are grand. Don't worry. A friend of mine (stoner) passed his no problem.

As far as I remember, when I was doing my medical for the bank, I had to go to my local doctor and get them to vouch for my general wellbeing. Then the form had to be sent to the chief medical officer or whoever it was. Wasn't a big deal for me TBH.
