Does anyone how how far back you can claim rent relief? I had been renting for 4 years until purchasing my own home and only recently learned of rent relief.

as far as im aware you can back date your claims. obviously you will only be entitled to the max rent credit for the particular year you are claiming for and not 2007 rates. there's a part on the form which asks you to indicate the period of tenancy.

I think it's only 4 years so that would be only as far back as 2004. Go to www.revenue.ie and get the info from the source :)

Strictly speaking 4 years, but you might get away with more years.
