    Hi Guys,

I want to play the Irish Open for the first time this year... but it looks like there will be a bit of a problem.

I can't make it to Dublin until Day 1b..:(

So, a few questions I need to be answered by anyone in the know..

    1. What chance is there that the main event will sell out?

    2. Can you choose your starting day?

    3. Will I be allowed to buy in on the morning of Day 1b..or will I have to do it in advance?

    Cheers,

    Keith

    Hi Requiem..

You must have a REALLY long memory, I haven't written anything for ages! But thanks for the kind words anyway.

I'm not a lurker I'm ashamed to say.. just went to the Irish Open website today and none of these questions were answered and when I tried the phone number I just got voice mail..

So where do I go to try and find these answers? Well, EVERYONE knows boards.ie is the home of all things poker in Ireland and someone must know the answers here :D

If you send a PM to "PPP-Pit Boss" i'm sure he/she (not sure!) will help you out. Doubt it'll be a problem tbh, im sure they can accomodate you for Day 1b no problem.

I remember when I was first getting into poker I enjoyed your reports of playing in tournaments. It was quite inspiring realising that even at the stakes you played, which seemed insanely high to me at the time, that there was plenty of exploitable play. Anyway cheers for the reading material, sorry I cant help with your queries!

I'm sure people here would be interested in some background from you, and what you have been doing recently if you had the time.

The thing was... most of the expoitable plays were made by me!!!

Basically semi retired from poker nowadays. I've got a 2 year old son who I look after while my girlfriend works. I play a bit online and dabble around with some sports betting. Basically life is good.

I am done with trekking around Europe playing in tournaments every week. I just play in the events where the players are treated extra well, or there is insanely good value and there is plenty to do in the city apart from play cards..

My schedule for this year is:

    Irish Open (hopefully lol)
    Monte Carlo
    WSOP (probably main event only)
    WSOP Europe
    Amsterdam.

    So, a pretty quiet year!

Cheers for the kind comments... glad I amused one person at least!!!

    Hi camel,
Any thoughts on marcel luske or timing tells?

    Is this a loaded question?

Marcel has the best table presence of anyone I've ever played against. Technically he has some expoitable flaws, but he more than makes up for these by his personality which wins him multiple coups.. (Players don't like busting him/ stealing his blinds etc etc)

If you're asking about online timing tells.. they are vastly overrated. They only mean anything against a VERY inexperienced player IMO.

    Ha!

    Interesting thread.

Just about the most contraversial thing I ever wrote was about Marcel and I got myself into some hot water.. I'm too old to be contraversial nowadays!!

    Camel

Thoughts on folding in +ev spots in cash games in hope of finding a greater +ev spot in the future(top set vs 2nd set perhaps)?

I can't remember what the outcome of the last thread was about this, can you choose your preferred start day?

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,864 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Yes, once you are registered as paid, I have been told that there is somewhere on the website you can select your starting day? I assume this is up to a point only though.

What about us online qualifiers? Do we get to choose?
