    http://www.lyngbox.com/overview/

Looks like it has started selling in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany & Spain.
Price seems to €679 incl 160 Gb hard disk.

    the quick and dirty:

2 Tuners, 1 satellite and 1 terrestrial. Both capable of standard MPEG2 and HD MPEG4 reception.

1 expansion slot for an extra tuner.

Box based on Linux but uses proprietary receiver-level software

    HDMI output
    Component, SCART & Composite also
Optical SPDIF out and analog RCA

    PVR functions incl timeshift.
160Gb hard-disk (seems to ship with this by default)

    Ethernet port
    4 USB 2.0 ports

    2 CI slots

The dogs bollox aspect is that it integrates with Lyngsat.com for free and saves service searching, keeping itself up to date. There is also a mention of the Lyngsat TV guide which will provide programme information, defaulting to the DVB epg details if not available. The guide is hosted http://www.lyngsat-guide.com and seems to be in early beta stage.. one assumes they are sourcing the data from radio times and friends and then distributing the same way they spec the sat services. It also boasts the ability to schedule recordings remotely from the web. I'm assuming that the box is notified of the scheduling or just polls the remote site for programmed recordings... very clever idea.

    The manual is available from:
    http://www.lyngbox.com/downloads/docs/manual/lyngbox-manual-english.pdf

    Youtube videos with demos..
    http://youtube.com/user/LyngBox

Screens in manual look basic in places but may well be usable.

This one could be promising both price wise in terms of bang for the buck and the expansion options that could result. The combined sat/terrestrial and MPEG4 capability is exactly what any FTA head requires to get FTA stuff.

Hopefully Dr. Dish will get to overview the receiver and give us some heads up as to its stability and performance.

Could be a serious dreambox killer.. we need to wath this one very closely.

Jaysus, that's a fine looking piece of kit. 4 USB ports! And store up to 50,000 channels :D

Just a pity it doesn't have a twin satellite tuner included in the extraordinary price of €680.

    Damnit, I want one :)
