    Hi,
I just got a Jg SVD so I am sorted for an Primary. Now I am looking for a secondary and I am not sure what to go for a Pistol or SMG. Could you guys give me a hand in choosing, I have about €120 to spend and would appricate sometypes on what you guys think is best?

edited the word weapon out of your post and thread title, please read the charter, airsoft devices are not weapons, it may not appear to be a big deal, but if we do it then when the media start talking about weapons all the time we cant exactly say they're wrong, can we?

Oops forgot about that sorry KD wont happen again, and lethal_bullet i already had a Galaxy MP5

I was going to recommend an MP5 K aswell but since you have one what are you worried about.
However, pistolwise i would suggest a nice holdout like the Glock Compact.:D

Ya they sound good, but didnt you say there was many problems with the Mac? What do people think of the MP7`s?

GBB VZ.61 Skorpian if you can get your hands on one. The best performance of all the Maruzen GBB machine pistols. Mags are $46 each though

The Tokyo Marui Vz.61 AEG is supposed to be quite good too.

not sure what problems ya had with the mp5k, but i would recommend it, it truly is a godly gun.
failing that their is a whole host of semi/full auto pistols to choose from, If you want something a bit more then a pistol but dont want an mp5k then perhaps a cut down stockless m4 machine pistol would be an idea?

Seconded, I've been using the TM one for a while now and it's a rather nifty little beast.

WARNING: Get the 100 round midcap mags unless you want to either be constantly winding or constantly changing mags. They chew through ammo.

The Jg SVD is already an AEG. So you don't really need a fully automatic sub as a backup. It would be pointless. Just get more SVD mags. All a sub will do is get in your way.

What you want is something small (So it won't get in your way while you crawl around the place with your already cumbersome SVD) and 100% reliable (Or close to it!) that won't crap out on you. A pistol should do the trick. A small one too.
KSC G19 ftw! Only piece of airsoft equipment I haven't had hassle with yet.

I'd go back to a Galaxy MP5K (... Oh wait! I just did  :D). You must have been unfortunate to get hold of a lemon, they are usually very good.

Compared to a GBB, an SMG might give you >ROF (assuming GBB is not full-auto) and >range, but it will definitely give you ammo capacity (hicap). When you think about its intended use (getting you out of a tight spot when the OpFor is closing in on you), not having to reload every 20 shots or so can only be a benefit.

In that context, the '5K recommendation makes sense, in that it's the smallest AEG you can get hold of (and not that much bigger than one of the larger Glocks, G17 or G34), that still packs a most respectable punch, usually around 300/310 FPS stock, and for which you can get a 200+ hicap in the 'snub mag' format (half-length, compared to usual MP5 banana mags).

However, the one downside is that with an SMG, you've got to think about how you're going to lug it around: on your chest, or on your back, or... and get a suitable sling.

Unless you want to be carrying more ammunition than the 101st, carry a pistol. Subs are fun, but useless.
Grab a good 1911. For that price you get the 1911, and two mags.

I was one of those. I didn't think that could possibly happen, and then I found out the hard way. Did you burrow behind us like a mole with attitude?

    Impressed all the same.

I'll be walking with the M15 as a primary, and a P90 as a secondary.
But its good to have an M4 as a tertiary .... just in case
    :p

I have the M11A1 GBB Ingram and I have to say I've yet to run into any of the problems others have. Maybe I just got lucky with the mag I got with it (but two more are on the way so I'll see how they go).

It holds around 50 bbs and has one of the fastest rof out there in any format. Plus it's cooler than Jesus, fact.

I ment to say it's no bigger than any pistol either mine will fit into a standard pistol holster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

The problem with the mac11 mags isnt the mags, its the bb's.

When you use excels in them, as they are very slightly smaller than normal, they may pop out of the mag when its firing, other brands have a slightly larger diameter.

If the problem does arise, a change in ammo can rectify it.

The KJ works P226 is a bangin pistola, though a little expensive.

Have you considered a shotgun though?:D

The KJW P229 is a much better version though (I have both :D)
Better blowback, better weight distribution (for me anyway), and fits snugly into my hand. I got it for $60 too on ehobby in an auction so bargain :)

So get that or a M1911, my recommendation anyway

    Ah well, it happens :p

I was really happy with the offer myself, and there were no other bids, so keep an eye on ehobby's auctions.

Without the mag in it. Which means you can't just draw and fire. You have to draw and start looking for mags. Hard to do when you also have a primary to think about. Especially if it's a sniper as you can't exactly have it on a three point sling.

But then you reach the dilemma of where to put the mags? They're such an annoying shape to store. You might just about manage it with some standard gear, but they're really going to get in the way of a sniper's maneuverability.

The only way I can see the mac11 being used effectively in a skirmish is as a primary (Preferably in a CQB environment) with about 6 mags across your chest and a pistol in a holster. Damn that will be fun.

Anything else is just masochism :D

I agree, a Mac11 isn't really desireable for a field game. It sure comes into its own in a CQB game though. Get 2 or 3 people bunched up and its hose time:)

I disagree! :p I'm determined to make it work as I won't be buying any new guns for a while yet. I'm well used to dealing with awkward size mags from having a Thompson as my primary. I've ordered a one point sling for the mac and I have a dropleg mp5 mag pouch that just about fits the mac mags.

I had the mag in with mac uncocked for a while at gtac, I wasn't lasting to long in any of the skirmishes though so it didn't get to much of a rattling but ran into no problems.

Do you mean you had it holstered in a drop leg with the magazine in?
How?! It sticks out a mile! Catches on stuff...and looks a tad silly :p

If you really are set on it, a sling is the only way to go alright. A three pointer would probably do you better than a two as it'll be more secure. But as I was saying, it's still going to be harder to get at than a pistol on your hip. And if you already have a main rifle with full auto..or even semi then it's kind of pointless to be carrying a sub too.

What's your primary? Is it the Thompson? Or do you have another rifle?

But the Mac carries off silly yet cool so well. And if I got one kill from it during a skirmish it would all be worth it. :D

Thompson is all I have, with 3 low cap mags. I have probably the most awkward setup in the whole country.

The one think I like about them is the shape and the appearance of it, does anyone here have a revolver?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,121 ✭✭✭N.O.I.P.

Yup I've got a .357 with an 8" Barrell, its a springer though so its not so skirmishable (still gonna try someday :D)

You can get some gas revolvers reasonably cheap and Tanaka have a nice range but they may be hard to find in stock. I think MIA does or did a plastic 24 shot one. Spitfire used to have one, not too sure if he still does.
