    hi,

after over a year on my gn125 i think its time to change up. due to lack of funds after christmas i think a big restricted bike would be too expensive.

i was looking at a honda bros 400 but quinn wouldn't insure me as i'm still on a prov licence.

i checked out quotes for a 250 hornet which weren't too bad. anybody have any experience of this bike? would it be ok for motorway journeys??

    any other ideas? thanks.

Why don't you have your license if you've been riding for over a year? The wait times for bike tests are very short. I got mine within 8 weeks of applying to Raheny.

Also you can't ride/drive on a motorway with a provisional license.

There's a lot of wind buffeting on hornet's and other naked bikes, it could be quite uncomfortable over a longish distance.

Current waiting time for a test is at least 1 year in the Dublin area. Personally applied April 07, test is not to be expected before this April...

I applied to Raheny in April of last year, got a date in June.

Other test centres have quite long waiting times - Raheny has a very short one as they tend to test a lot of bikes. You can ring up the dept of transport and try to get your test location changed.

In fact it should probably be a shorter wait for anyone who has got their provisional license as newbies have to wait 6 months before even applying for a test.

Yea, damn Raheny... only found out about its preference to bikes after I applied to Churchtown. Bike instructor at the time said it shouldnt matter though, so I just left it.

Gave them (RSA) a call last month, and asked wth is goin on... they said not to expect till April. Took about 2 weeks to get through to em, just for a 15 second conversation, so I took the opportunity to change to Raheny too. He said it wouldnt change the waiting time though, still waitin till April :(
