ok, so how would you go about getting part time work but only in the evenings? I tried my local Dominos pizza place who need drivers but my licence isn't full, tried Nixers doing an evenings keyword search and nothing showed up. i'm ok with most things.. just not call centre work and waitressing I'm not mad about. And I'm looking to get at least 10 an hour and not minimum wage.

Any tips or know anywhere? ? I can start straight off really..

Dunno what age you are pog it, but you'd be doing well to get part-time evening work and earn more than minimum wage. I don't know anybody who works part-time that earns more than minimum wage, and I certainly don't.

As for where you'd find a job, check the newspapers regularly. 'The Echo' especially, its employment pages don't have huge variety (alot of warehouse work for example), but there's usually 1 or 2 that are worth investigating.

Other than that, think of where you'll work (eg. in Dublin -- Dundrum shopping centre, Liffey valley, Nutgrove, the Square, the city....), print out a tonne of CV's (make sure they're good first), and spend a day giving them all out. Keep an eye out for signs in the window/on doors, etc., looking for staff.

Then you play the waiting game...

If you're really desperate, the likes of Dunnes, Tesco, McDonalds, Burger King, etc., go through alot of staff and so are usually good places to go. Just cos you're working there doesn't mean you have to settle, but it's easier to find a job when you have one aint it!

Keep an eye out for open days too... There's been a few lately... A couple of new hotels in Tallaght had them, Xtravision did too.

Just generally pepper the place with CV's and hope some will get a response!
Also ask your friends if their places are taking anyone on... They can often help you get a job.

If you get an interview then make sure you're prepared for it properly so you don't waste the opportunity.

    Can't think of anything else!

Lansdowne Market Research. I usta only work around 10 hrs a week during college. Hated it but money was money and it was desperate times. However the sweet thing about it was that you could book a shift and cancel at fairly short notice. You could even miss one or two a month without any repurcusion. However the wages were fairly p1ss poor.

Working in retail you probably won't get much above minimum wage unless you're there a while.

For more income generating jobs like barwork you should be looking at 10+, in dublin at least.

Also, don't forget to follow up if you know they're looking for staff and don't get back to you. CV's tend to get lost in my exp. You might get turned down, but at least it's another thing t cross off the list.

As one of the other posters said, getting jobs thru friends is probably your best bet.
