    Hi,
Just looking into a long weekend trip to barcelona and wondering if anyone knew of any hotels in central areas for cheap. we plan on shopping and heading out and seeing a few sights so somewhere central enough to all of that would be handy. Havent looked into it too much as only decided yesterday to head away so not even sure where the good areas in the city are
    Thanks!

We stayed here last March. The staff were very friendly, the room the quite large and was very central to everything. It's just off Las Ramblas, the main walking street, in the very beautiful Gothic District. I couldn't recommmend it highly enough. As far a I recall, it was quite resonable too

Stayed here about a year ago - it was lovely and about a five minute walk to Plaza Catalunya - www.hotelconstanza.com
We had a fab room with huge balcony and a little kitchen area too.

    Would definitely recommend it.

I'm going in a couple of weeks and booked a hotel through tripadvisor. Can't for the life of me remember the hotel, himself has it written down somewhere.

Try tripadvisor; you get independent honest reviews of hotels.

Plaza Catalunya is central so stay within walking distance of it. I wouldn't stay on Las Ramblas as it would be the same as staying in the middle of Temple Bar especially at the weekend. You want to be close but not close enough to be kept awake at night.

We stayed here in an apartment and thought it was great: http://www.hotelbertran.com/

    It's a hidden gem.
