    who here made the switch?

    i am thinking of changing because
    1) its free... i have vista home premium full dvd so I can move it to my mce pc
    2) my mce2005 sometimes decides to tape the repeat instead of the original????

    i have a 360 extender so it will still work
    i have 2 original xbox extenders which wont work, but i am thinking of replacing
    the xbox360 ->the vista mce pc
    1st original xbox -> the 360
    2nd original xbox -> maybe a new 360 someday

    so questions...
    1) is there any new features/advantages
    2) does vista mce change the tv refresh rate every time it loads up (I think the flickering caused by the res change of mce2005 ruined my old telly :( )
    3)is it easy to set up with terrestial analog, (my mce 2005 needed a bit of hacking)
    4) should i even bother :)?

    Hi mukki,

    I am running a dual boot MCE2005/Vista 32. I am going to ditch MCE2005 and the only reasons. Which are not really good enough to upgrade:

    1) No dual maintenance for me anymore after upgrade
    2) Frees up space on hd
    3) On dual boot - prompt for choice of OS and I wait 30 seconds and it chooses vista. My bluetooth keyboard won't work on that screen, naturally.
    4) I use hdmi to connect to TV and it behaves better under Vista with the latest drivers from Nvidia (at last)
    5) I had no issues setting up terrestrial or DVB-T
    6) I had driver issues to start with and worked through them simply

    If I were you I would try to see if you can install on an partition and dual boot to demo it or that is not possible I would be in no rush. Others may differ, I am sure of it.

    i never liked dual booting, but i did remove the drive and install vista on a different drive so i can easily go back

    love it so far, the extender works much better, really fast, looks nicer and things like rew and ff work perfect.

    didn't find it difficult to get it up and running, still had to edit mcetuningoverides to get it to work with analogue terrestial, but things like standy and wake on lan are working fine
