P60 ... when?

Ok bit of history, my boss isn't always on the ball but he's a nice guy so we don't ask questions when maybe we should.

My first year with the company (its only small) his accountant (a mate) fk'd up our tax despite us saying ti was wrong all year ... "Sure, he knows what he's doing" we'd get told.

He doesn't give wage slips unless we really hassle him. Last month I got them from August, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan but a few of them said that they took pension payments even though I dont pay it through work. He said it was just a mistake on paper and that it was grand because he paid me the correct amount by cheque (seriously who pays permanent staff by cheque?).

Anyway I am currently in a bad mood as I haven't gotten my P60 and its in the accountants office. They offered to send it over but my boss said he'd collect them - that was last Thursday. When I asked about it yesterday he said I could go get it myself!

Is there a deadline for when I am meant to get it and is it up to me to go get it?

A lot of companies issue them with the January paycheque. You're supposed to receive them at the end of the tax year, but in reality it often takes a little longer than that to process them.

The P35 was due on the 15th so most companies will have submitted theres last week, I got mine last tuesday so Im assuming you are due it over the next couple of weeks.

It is actually illegal, and your employer should know. At the end of the day your employer, however how friendly they are, is your employer, and has a responsibilty. Furthermore you can tell your employer in writing (always best), that you want your pay slips montly and if this doesnt work out, you can contact revenue directly and they will tell him. Revenue hate employers who are messy with their tax so it could be good to put in a call. Also you might want to ask for a printout of all your salary payments over the last year and consult revenue on your tax entitlements as you may have been over taxed, its something that is really upto yourself to fix.
