    Hi Guy's,

What do you think about holding a 6-8 week league online with maybe a €50 buy in each week.
Top ten go through to a grand final for travel and tickets or just tickets for either the W.S.O.P Main event or tickets to some of the side events.

I could see if any of the Poker sites would be intrested in maybe adding to the Prize fund in return for us playing the league on there site?(Im sure Ill get loads of offers) after all they get players goin to the WSOP.

    So........
    1. What do you all think of the idea as WSOP is only a few months away.
    2. Would you prefer Main event tickets or side events?
    and what about travel expences?
    3. What buy-in would you prefer to make it affordable for everyone?
    4.Any other thoughts.

If your intrested in this please speak now. and we can get this goin as soon as possible.

Anyone got any intrest in this?

We could build up a nice prizepool and get a gang going to Vegas
If league don't suit everyone then maybe winner each week goes onto a final or something. Between us all we have a lot of power to get a site onboard and get some prizes added. Now is the time to be thinkin about this not in May.

    Come on some feedback

    Exactly what are you proposing??

When we run the BCOOP we never get any positive responses from sites, and seeing as they are all running their own sats I'd say the chances of any of them adding something to this is slim. But there's nothing wrong with trying.

But what exactly are you proposing, where does this €50 go? Or what happens??

the one flaw I see with this is that, as a 'Boards' tournament, you are guaranteed to be playing against a higher standard of player

why would you not just play the standard qualifiers against the standard donks?

sorry, I don't see the attraction...gl with it though

    quack quack... bang!!

just play standard online qualfiers and stop getting mad notions...

We have a large group of poker players that use this site, why not make use of this pool of players. I know many sites that would be very happy to talk to us about arranging tournaments and leagues with added prize funds.

It makes perfect sense to me to use our power as a group to our benefit...!!

    Not agree?

if it makes you feel any better, what you are saying makes perfect sense in theory, but not so easy to put it into practise

I've spoken to poker sites that would be very greatful of our support and in return would be happy to talk about adding prizes and funds.I have no idea how many member use this fourm but I know I could get us a deal where we support a site and they support us.

Regarding the €50 entry....maybe 70%-30% split....70% paid out each week for the weekly winners etc and the 30% going into the grand final with added funds from the site?
The reason I posted was to get feedback from players what they would like to see and work from there.

OK. You as players tell me what you would want from a league and let me see if I can get it.
You think if I go to a poker site and tell them I have 100-200-300 new players for them they don't wanna know. Trust me we have the power.
Just give me an idea what why to run this and Let me do the rest.

I don't think there is any chance that you get a 100 people from this site to sign up to a poker site, most people have accounts on all the main sites already.

As people have said already the idea is good in theory but these things rarely work out as people just can't commit the time to play these games week in week out so they just don't play at all.

A better idea I think would be do one for say the Irish Open where the buyin is roughly 3-4k less. Say 6.5k for arguments sake. get 50 or 100 players to play a tournament where the winner gets the ticket to play and the FT all get a % of the winner like what people have suggested in the past. I would be more inclined to play a tournament like this as it is a once off and say everyone at the table gets a % of the action like maybe the following:

    Winner 50%
    2nd 15%
    3rd 7.5%
    4th 7.5%
    5th 5%
    6th 5%
    7th 5%
    8th 5%

Or do one for the WSOP either where 50 or 100 players pay $200 or $100 depending on the number of players. This way you get a chance of winning the ticket and also a chance of getting between 5-25% on a decent player.

I think you would have a better chance of getting 50 or 100 players from here to buy into something like this.

The sites don't need all new players.

They get 3 things from this.

    1. cash deposits into accounts
    2. reg from each tourny
    3. players in major events (If we agree to wear branded clothing)
    And some new cash accounts.

Im already talking to a big Poker site about sponsoring the "IRISH HEADS UP CHAMPIONSHIPS" and they are very keen to get new and existing players.

Did the GJP league work, I think that end after the first season?

Is the VC poker league getting the no's? It seems to be the same 15 players each week from what I can see.

I dont really see this working, but nice idea.

For it to work, someone would need to put up a prize of a package to the WSOP for it to get the interest going.

    gl with it anyway.

I am interested. Maybe for the 1.5k $ side event is better, easier to make up the money (about 1k €).....2-3 tickets? I would be happy with that!

I think your the guy with a little too much time on your hands playing 25/50cent cash and then doing a blog about it.

I know you're only trying to blow Mick out of the water, but that comment offends fellow microstakes bloggers like me [plug]AdamsRants.com[/plug].:)

Regarding your idea, I commend you for trying to do something of benefit to the Boards.ie community and I'm certain that if you post back next week saying that PokerStars (or some other site) have agreed to sponsor a main event ticket through a cash game rake race exclusive to Boards users then you'd have plenty of interest and people will congratulate you and love you long time!

Unfortunately, the evidence so far is that there isn't that much of an uptake in Boards-exclusive events and promotions and people are obviously going to be doubting a sites willingness to sponsor a WSOP buyin when the only sites that have the resources to make such a thing remotely feasable would be the big sites who would have their own large-scale marketing campaign in operation to attract people to WSOP sats.

No offence ment............Im sure you make a profit at it.
Others have a little to much to say about things they know very little about...Like Poker.......!!!

i would be up for playing in some thing but would prefer a once off than a wekkly league, only because it really would be way too much hastle because people backing out etc, there arent from here that i would think would play this, i dont know the site well. i just noticed that they dont seem too enthuased in playing tourney's against each other.
one question though, important for me. accom and travel paid for or no?
and if there is a league running properly each week i more than likely will be up for it if its for the main event. but i think a side event would be easier for our first attempt at this and would be easier to organise

    Hi Dougee,

Played with you last year at one of kellys events if I remember right.
Plan was to get enough cash together for a good few tickets for a few of the side events and maybe some money towards travel.
But I dont think anyone is interested in getting this together.
Last time we played you were 19/20?. WSOP were over 21 only?
You planning on going to Vegas this year?

Just to clarify i was talking about Blazing Aces cash tables, there are several very good tourney players that have play there from time to time.

Also as Neill or Jakey knows i have no problem with the club and get on well with a lot of its members.

WTF has happened to this forum lately?
If it's not sniping and sly digs it's complete bull**** comments from retards.

I'm going to clean up this thread and delete alot of crap, so don't make any comments that are off topic. I've no problem banning people and you can take it to feedback if you have a problem with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,806 ✭✭✭Lafortezza

20 posts deleted, stop stirring **** taliban or I'll ban you, mdwexford and THEIRISHMOB, put the handbags away. I don't care who started it just stfu and keep it off this forum.

Another 9 posts deleted. And gondorff very close to a Ban. Follow mods instructions and don't repost things that have been deleted.

This place is going to rack and ruin. We might have to start pruning our numbers, Darwinism obviously isn't working, so maybe the thing to do is just start banning people left right and centre to clean the place up.

Your choice people, but hand bags away, personal abuse left alone and just the general sniping needs to be cut out. But it's getting pretty annoying having to clean up thread after thread of crap and sniping.

there have been numerous aggro treads recently without posts being deleted, what right do you or other mods have to delete posts that don't break the forum charter

Wow my post was deleted WTF? It contained no sniping insults or anything along those lines.Sure go on delete this i'm sure you've nothing better to be doing.
Lafortezza, your ranting is no better than what you've deleted, and as nicky quite rightly pointed out i've seen posts recently a hell of a lot worse than anything that was in this thread, but of course it's only right that certain members should be immune to such indecencies.

for those that missed the deleted posts it was a bitching match between Irishmob and Mdwexford, and as faith would have it they were sat next to each other at yesterdays team event. Maybe paddypower aren't the only one rigging table set ups, Neill ?
