I was told that when you are on a provisional you are only allowed drive in Ireland. However my insurance company said I am insured for up to 45 days at a time outside of the country (UK)

I want to go to the Isle of Man in the summer, am I legal?

Probably not. Your provisional licence says on it that it is not valid outside of the republic of ireland.

This would mean that you do not have an Irish driving licence, so depending on the laws of the Isle of man, you do not have a licence to drive there.

You won't be legal as you don't have a licence. If you pass the test then you'll be fine and insured.

You won't be legal as you don't have a licence.
That's the correct way of expaining it. You basically don't have a license (outside the Republic of Ireland).
