I am seriously thinking about studying to become a pro photographer ( to get out of this IT industry, theres only so much sql server a man can take!).

Besides playing with the photography as a hobby in my spare time, and building up a portfolio, are there any other ways to speed up getting a career in photography?

also, what is the money like for a standard pro photographer, generally speaking?

Exactly what kind of photography are you interested in?

Im happy just taking pictures, capturing that one shot that takes your eye and makes you think or tells a story, regardless of the topic. But if i had to state a preference, its wildlife photography. again, thats only a preference, and taking photos in general is good enough for me. Not paparatazi though..
