Another day, another game for the Irish Women.

Ireland have fielded first and restricted the opposition to 142/8 in their 50 overs, a total that should not be beyond them. They will have to apply themselves better than yesterday though.

Seven bowlers were used, with Isobel Joyce the leading wicket-taker with 3 for 21 off her 10 overs, ably supported by the Whelan sisters (Heather 2 for 19 off 9, Jill 2 for 31 off 9).

Once again, though, the disappointing thing is the 60 extras conceded, including a staggering 54 wides. This is something that needs to be sorted. How much easier would it be to chase 83?

I'll try to scribble a further post when the game finishes.

how can you concede 54 wides! shocking stuff and the scots haven't had an extra yet so it can't have been the umpires being pernickety.

All umpires are pernickety, it's a rule......

it's a law! haven't covered that yet in the umpiring course!
title of thread should be changed it was actually scotland we were playing and beat them handy too, got the total in 21.5 overs, good knocks from Beggs and Isobel Joyce (44* and 45*) with Shillington the only wicket to fall. After a good start the Scots ended up with 25 extras (23 of them wides) so maybe the umpires got pernickety with them too :D
did you see that bermuda were all out for 13 yesterday and lost in 4 balls against south africa!!

There's a little thing we haven't covered yet Derek, called Rule 1 - The Umpire is Allowed to be Pernickety. The older you get, the more this rule applies. Sadly, Bobo is old before his time, as I know he's younger than both of us!

Sh*t, my mistake, can't figure out how to edit it, or if it's even possible to edit it without mod powers.

A much better performance from the top 3, and one that will give much confidence for the matches ahead. They can now focus on beating the other teams and getting to the semis & final.

Steady now. It's not age, it's experience. And don't you forget it.

Laws, Regulations and Directives. Discuss. Candidates will not take as long as the recently retired REO.
