Working over the weekend in Killossery, north county Dublin. I was working for another guy this time. First half of the day drinking coffee as we waited for the arena's to thaw out. Sun started off high and then dropped off to the left of me, started the day at ISO 200 and ended at ISO 800 so not too bad. First day shooting the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 in anger, ended up hadholding for most of the day and by the end my wrist was aching. Heres a few examples from the day.

The 1st shot is good, the horse looks great, probably let down by the expression of the rider, a more natural look like the one in the 2nd photo would have been better.

I find the angle of legs in the 2nd a bit distracting, maybe that's what you intended, I don't know!

The 3rd is really good, great dof and an unusal shot, you do have a way with horses getting them to walk in a line like that for you ;)

I just put the first up because it was the best example of an extension of the day, second one for the amount of crossover the horse made. The third one I played Spirits call on my phone and all the foals came up to investigate. Paul I have a monopod but I had to change from landscape to portrait quickly.

Unlock the lens collar, so it can freely rotate. That generally works.

How you finding the Sigma 120-300mm?

€2k cheaper than the Canon 300mm.

I am finding it exellent, its a heavy beast but for the range I get out of it its well worth it.
