Buying Wii. Accessories?

    Hey Dudes and Dudettes.

After careful consideration over and over pondering the "which console will i buy?" question I've settled on a Wii. Don't like Sony, I've got a beast of a PC for most of whats on the 360 and my wee cousin had me playing tennis while half cut last week and I laughed my head off.

So I've decided Wii is the way forward.

I'm pretty au fait with the games side of things but I embarrassingly admit that when it comes to accessories I'm useless.

Basically what pads/wiimotes/nun-chuks/etc. should I be buying and how many of each if I want to have a decent laugh with a few friends round?

    Hey mate,

Wii is a great party console all right.
Mario Strikers is my fave multiplayer game, you need 4 controllers and 4 nunchucks to play 4 player(which is amazing btw!). Make sure you get a few rechargable battery packs off Dealextreme!

Ah, so nun-chucks attach to the the controllers? If you buy the nun-chuck you dont get a controller with it no?

Yeah that's it. Nunchuck are about €20 and the wiimote (controller) is about €40. I'd get rechargable batteries or the wii power station beacuse the remotes farily chew the batteries.(http://www.play.com/Games/Wii/4-/3385903/Wii-Remote-Charging-Stand/Product.html).

That's it really, best get the console first and then decide what accesories you need/ want.

Ah yea - starting to get it now. Just got confused when I saw wiimotes, nun-chuks and classic controllers on sale.

Which rechargeables are best to buy? Play.com have sony 800mA but then there's an unknown selling 2500mA rechargeables. Why is there such a gap - the 2500 looks best on paper but i'm wary of crap companies offering huge advantages.

Also - I've noticed 3rd party sensor bars for sale - do you need a sensor bar too to use the wiimotes like swords/golf clubs/tennis rackets etc? Is there a nintendo branded one?

the wii comes with a sensor bar. The 3rd party ones are either wireless - if you wii's going to be miles away from teh telly or if you broke the original one. You'll def need another wiimote. Not all games require a second nu-chuck (only boxing needs it in wiisports). That said if you're hoping to get 4 playing at once I'd get 3 more wiimotes and 1 nunchuck just in case :)

And beer is the key to ultimate enjoyment of the wii!!

Now your moving into my area of expertise. It was when I was locked after the six nations week before last that I experienced Wii for the first time.

So Wiimotes are the king yea? And back it up with one or two nun-chucks?

    Wii (comes with Wiimote?)
    3 more Wiimotes
    1 nun-chuck
    Charging station
    Games
    Me
    3 Friends.

That's my checklist. How am I doing?

There was a deal on at christmas for a wiimote n wiisports for 50 yoyos i think. Just like to add what a ripoff the fact you need to buy nunchuks and wiimote seperately :(

Think that was a wiimote and wii play for €45. It's a pretty rubbish game but might as well get it if it's free. Got mine in Argos

The fact that they're sold seperately is not a rip off.. in fact it's saving you money if you don't need a nun chuck. It's the euro price fo them thats a rip off. So far your list is good... 3 extra wiimotes may not be required - most wii sports games can be played using 1 or 2 wiimotes (turn based) tennis will req 4 though - boxing needs 2 wiimotes and 2 nun chucks.

Oh and get wii fit when it comes out. Highly recommended!!

The Wii comes with the Wii Sports game (tennis, bowling, baseball, golf, boxing), a sensor bar, a wiimote, and a nunchuck.

If you're gonna be having 3 friends round to play, 3 wiimotes are a must, and depending one the game, you may need 3 nunchucks too.
The Wii Sports games apart from the boxing only need a wiimote, but a lot of the games like Mario Strikers Charged, Rayman Raving Rabbids etc need a wiimote and a nunchuck each in multiplayer.
