    'Ello,
I'll be heading off to NY this week and I'm going to splash out and buy an iPod Touch. What's the cheapest store in the city center to pick up a 32GB'er?

    Mercy beacoups.

they'll be the same price everywhere due to agreements with Apple.

for the experience i would say the 5th avenue store as it's pretty cool.

order it from amazon.com and ship to your hotel. No sales tax.

How quick would the delivery be? I'm staying for a week, Saturday to Saturday.

You'd be better off just getting it in the apple store, less risk and atleast you'll know 100% you'll get it :)

Some time back, I did something like this - ordering from Amazon and then asking the delivery to be made to me, c/o the hotel manager's name. Mind you, I could trust the hotel (it was in Reno, Las Vegas) and I made a phone call to make sure the hotel manager did agree.

Not sure about New York though...

You could do that I suppose, but make sure to order a few days before you actually get to the hotel...perhaps a week in advance :)

sign up for a months free trial of Amazon Prime and you'll get one day delivery for $3.95

Yeah, I agree.....Amazon is probably best for price....lack of sales tax, free shipin in some cases.

The Apple store will probably assure you the product though in a small timeframe....but you get hit for NY sales tax.......

You can check delivery dates for Amazon when you go to check-out....Amazon usually ship/deliver ahead of their 'estimated delivery date' in the US for standard

There are rumours of a 64gb release in the US later this year.

I know but it just seemed that they're not being too fair to customers in that we never know when they're gonna realease a new product which is better than the one currently on the market. IMO it leaves customers in the dark as whether to buy or not and it's like Apple are trying to sucker in as many people as they can. e.g. people who said they wouldn't buy an iPod Touch because it was too small suddenly jump when it's 32GB and now there's a 64GB on the horizon very quickly.

I'm just trying to say that if you drop €400 on an iPod you wouldn't expect it to be out of date 6 months later. But as you say business is business and they're in it for the money at the end of the day.

Always been the way. I didn't like what they did with charging for the touch software, but as the memory prices drop they will be putting in bigger memory chips. They'll get left behind by the other manufacturers if they didn't.

Thing is, if everybody held on until a newer, faster, better model came out, you would never sell any product. I don't accept that it is "trying to sucker"; it follows that the newer product will be better specced. If you want it enough, go out and get one.
