Camelot infomercial on 6.1 news...

    Did anyone else see the item about the Dutch property company (Camelot) on 6.1 tonight? It was on just before the 6.40 ad break. Basically, it was an informercial for this company - outlining their services, interviewing some of their customers and making some vague comment about figures from the last Census showing an increase in the number of people advertising.

    I've worked in a lot of newsrooms in my time, and I don't think one of them would have accepted this as a 'news' item - not even on the slowest of slow news days. I'm not into RTE-bashing, but I am baffled as to how this made it onto the prime time news on a public service broadcasting station.

    I've seen some infomercials on the 6.1 news, don't know if this was one of them. Now I know this thread is here, I'll post them up...

    It is odd to hear things like this, and you turn to the person next to you...is that news!????
