Howdy, I realise this has prob. been asked before but here goes.
I want to have as much advantages as possible playin online poker and am looking for some help in relation to what programs i should get to track opponents etc.

At present i have zilch and i also dont have a credit card (playing via laser on PP, GJP etc)

I read fairly regularly here on Boards and read about HUD's, pokertracker etc? Also I would be looking for something to see how profitable a player is (so i can avoid).

Could someone please tell me what is the best method that i can play using Laser and does it really help your game or does it become a distraction?

Help appreciated, also better mention i am more-or-less an IT gimp so something user-friendly would suit best.

www.sharkscope.com gives some stats on sng's for different networks. You can use 5 free searches a day. I never bothered using the pay-service either!

www.officialpokerrankings.com has some mtt (tournaments) stats for a couple of networks.

My advice though would be to worry less about opponents in the short term and focus on improving your own game. Even in the long term it's a much better idea. It's nice to know a bit about your opponents but most of it can be worked out without software.

    Dont worry about that.

Look up a player called Elky on sharkscope (pokerstars).

"bertrand"elky" grospeiller has just won the PCA for 2 million US$
the tourny consisted of 1134 extremely good players
he bested a final table {8 handed} that included david pham"

Anyway listen, instead of software, what you should try do is practise/work at your game. Maybe read a few more books (!) or articles on Boards etc

    Appreciate it, bang on

Ya best way of improving is practice - same as everything else, try to develop a unique style and heres packing in the job by the end of this year - and try not to be too optimistic

Also the guy who won the FTOPS main event today for around $450,000 had a big fish bowl beside him on sharkscope, his name is reverse.

Great, so this guy Reverse has $450k more to donk off on sngs on full-tilt, happy days :D

Also I've yet to see a player on Sharkscope with the fish tag who was a good player, in sngs anyway - which is what Sharkscope covers.

The poor guy got so much stick at he final table by all the railbirds for his fish bowl stats but he went on to beat a FT pro heads up(ThomasWalhroos). He gives hope to all the fish out there i guess.

You're right tho about the fish tags on sharkscope, they usually are always donkeys.

that guy is also dowm over half a mill on tourneys on pokerstars and has been playing regularly since 2003

he's probably breakeven with fpps though, plus his Stars sponsorship must be worth high 5 figures a year. So there's plenty of hope for all you people who can't even beat SNGs.

wow - "all you people"/mere mortals!

In fairness RoundTower is a shark on sharkscope :D

As for Elky, yeah with fpp's it's not too bad, but you need a hell of a starting bankroll to start with. That 2m win also will probably put him in positive numbers for a few years to come.

Do any of you tourney donks use any programs whilst playing? Or Sng wizard etc etc

I think the only rated tournament program is "Tournament Indicator" which is little more than a glorified odds calculator with the added bonus of calculating you and your opponents M - which is such a simplistic task to do mentally that it serves only as a gimmick!
