    Hi,

Have a PX 200 and the crankshaft is on the way out. Scooter Island have informed me that this will cost €450 to replace with labour.

Anyone know of a place I could pick one up for cheaper and/or someone who could fit it.

In the meantime I'm going to contact StreetStyle Scooters in Belfast. I've heard they do a free delivery.

    Nice Wan...

Unless you do it yourself I doubt you'll get much cheaper. It's not the parts that cost the most money. Cracking open an engine is a fair bit of work. Might be cheaper getting another engine from somewhere.

The bike only cost me €1250 2 months but is a nice bike, it's a limited edition so would prefer to hang on to it. Scooter Island have suggested I trade in and get a bike with a warranty, then again they would say that.

I think I might order the part and I reckon I'll be able to find someone to fit it.

Thanks for that link, fairly comprehensive.

So apart from ordering a "Standard Crank - PX200" do I need to order other parts that go with it, e.g bearings....??

I know the guys in Scooter Island, and trust me, they're not motivated by greed.

Lee esp. is a good guy.

What do ya mean by the crank shaft is on its way out? They usually just lock up when the bigend overheats. I've had to change it on my motocross bike a few times, I can get a crankshaft and the other bits i need from the states for about e250, and i know a local mechanic who charges me about e100 to split the cases and pop it in. 450 doesnt sound to bad if it includes parts aswell.

I think Lee left there ages ago and it's Colin and Mark now.

It's my first bike and as I said I only have it 2 months. I left it in last week as it just cut out at the lights.

They told me I can replace the spark plug every month or so and that will keep it going but that the crankshaft will need to be replaced. It could last another 6 months or so but I'm just not a big fan of driving around knowing that it could go. Sorry, can't explain it any better, newbie.

Is the any funny noises scrapping/bearing noises comming from the engine?, a dodgy bigend or mains bearing (both are on the shaft) are the only thing that I think could be wrong, although they usually just lock up, and the engine wont turnover at all.
If the sparkpug needs to be changed often it suggests that the jetting is off slightly, which a good mechanic can put right. Only other thing that could be gone is a mains seal, would would make the engine run lean (overheat and blow sparkplugs)

I didn't know about Lee, luckly I haven't had to use the shop for ages myself.

Any idea what happened with Lee?.

I have her back now and that's the main thing, buzzed round the city for 20 mins during lunch.....Mark showed me how to replace the spark plug and gave me 2 spares. It should be fine up to end of summer or thereabouts, will worry about then...........

Still no sign of driving test in Tallaght and I applied in October. Once I pass I'll be treating myself to a King and Queen seat. They look cosy personified!
