Perhaps best known for her residency at Le Pulp in Paris and her genre-bending mix CD with Ivan Smagghe 'The Dysfunctional Family', Chloé was one of the earliest French converts to German minimal, naturally of course, crossed with a bit of French electro. Alongside Miss Kittin and The Hacker, she is now one of the most sought after French techno Djs, As a producer, her output has run the gamut from experimental lo-fi to deep techno on labels such as BPitch Control, Kill The DJ and Kill Brique. Her album "The Waiting Room" has received rave reviews, and thus Chloé is set for the big time! Catch her Irish debut at Spy on Friday 22nd of February.

3 double passes up for grabs for Chloe. Easy question is: Who is playing at Spy on Feb 29th. Answers to spydublin@mac.com

    Press for “The Waiting Room”

“The Waiting Room, debut album from Parisian DJ/ producer Chloe, may be the finest LP released this year - seriously. It’s certainly the most atmospheric: the druggy, arty spirit of film noir and The Velvet Underground are channelled into cutting-edge production andelegant songwriting to create an incredible fusion of acoustic and electronic sounds, taking in elements of kosmische, minimal techno, fractured folk and drone-rock. Essential, basically.”
FACT - album of the month

“It’s quite remarkable, standing out from the welter of electronic album attempts with it’s simplicity, fragility and often-stunning originality…. Just to say this is a very special album and an amazing debut in anyone’s books.”
UPDATE - album of the week

“Augmenting her skeletal techno beats with droning, bluesy guitarriffs, spine-chilling electronic textures and fragmented vocals, French producer Chlo Thevenin’s debut album is a singularlyunsettling one…. For all that it evokes a particularly severe comedown, there is a deep, opulent beauty to Chloe’s music which compelsyou to return for more.”
    The Guardian

“This is a fantastically stylish and substantial record, one which effortlessly flits between techno function, traditional song and textural innovation and ends up being the best avant-minded pop album of ‘07 so far (sorry Matthew, you almost had it). If even half the music-loving public was genuinely as open-minded as they claim to be, this would be a bestselling crossover hit… trust me, you’ll still be playing it ten years from now.”
    TAPE

An introspective peek into quiet acoustic melody, moody strings, and spare, breathy vocals, it interprets electronic music from a place far from the dancefloor.
    XLR8R

    A surreal-toned and breathtaking album.
