    hello all,

has anyone any opinions on the new colour lasers from HP - specifically the 2600N. I'm looking to set up a printer for a family of which a few are in college and they all have laptops, and then the main home pc. the handy thing would be the ethernet connection on these to allow sharing, without the need for the main pc to be on. they're not a bad price either. any thoughts ??

    thanks and regards,

    Owen.

Check the price of the consumables (toners), that will give you a good indication of the running costs. Usually the cheaper the printer the more expensive the consumables.

We have one of them running here in the job. Super printer. I'm not 100% but I don't think it's a hungry on the consumables either.

We have a few 2605's here for small clusters of people, worst printer ever if its used high volume. Our contractors datapac even admit they are build on the cheap. But for home use it should be grand.

I wouldnt imagine they'd cope too well in a constant use office environment, but for home use, its got to be better than ****e dell and lexmark inkjets any day. apparently comes with full cartridges as well, not partially filled to get the price down. think I'll go ahead with it anyway and see..

The 3000 series is a lot more fast and for about like 200-300 more euro.
I have a 2605 at home, not bad, it is fast enough, but it takes a while to get the first page printed, don't know why, even like 2 lines, although the printer has 64MB memory.

er, because the Fuser Unit has to heat up.
