Great album, not my favorite Bright Eyes though.

But this album does suck me in right from the beginning.

Love it. Especially The First Day of My Life, even if it is a bit too exposed for my liking, it's very relaxxing and stuff.

Absolutely cracking album, though it's not my favourite. I'm more of a 'Fevers & Mirrors' man.

On topic, I've a couple of favourite songs on this album: 'At The Bottom Of Everything', 'Road To Joy' and 'Landlocked Blues'. Emylou Harris adds her nice touch to the record.

For me it's the second best of the ten or so Bright Eyes albums I have.

I have to agree with you Xavi6, Emylou Harris is fantatsic on this record!

This is a great album to listen to in the dark or if you want to sit in silence and relax until the final song come on and gives you a much needed energy burst!

It's probably my favourite album of his and I love the arrangements, melodies and his voice is always creaking with emotions as if he's almost to the point of collapse but I do think that his sub Dawsons Creek lyrics will always let him down, I swear sometimes looking at his lyric sheets are like reading some teenagers diary...

Just my opinion by the way although I'm sure I'll feel the vitriol for it next time I log in :o

Agree with the sentiment that it's not my favourite album, comes third to digital ash and fevers respectively, but there's only one bad song on it.Personal Highlights include Old Soul Song and Landlocked Blues. Also think it's one of the best structured album I own with the first song not being a pile of self-indulgent craq asis common on his albums.

Think a special mention should be set aside for his live show. It's phenomenal (has nothing to do with the fact I got to sing the last line of a concert with him into the mic, oops did I say that out loud? ;)). The new version of first day of my life is great

Absolutely love this album, been listening to it non stop since a friend of mine introduced me to it. I haven't really had a chance to listen to the rest of his stuff but if any of it comes close to this, it looks as though I'm in for a treat. :)

Love First Day Of My Life, but I never really got into any other Bright Eyes stuff. It just didn't appeal to me

probably my favourite bright eyes album, much better than their last effort that's for sure.

This is one of my favourite albums, especially "First Day of my Life" but i bought Casadanga recently (ish) and haven't listened to it much as I bought it at the same time as a few other CD's and it got ignored a bit! This has reminded me to give it another go so I'll listen to it on the bus later!

Love this album though!! First day of my life always makes me think of that scene on the beach in Eternal Sunshine!

    i like the songs

but i cringe horribly at the intro spiel about the plane crashing, it's a shame, because it breaks into a cracking tune. but there's something really terrible about it.

I love the intros on all his albums, makes you sit for awhile before you get to the music...
