    Hi All,

Got an interview tomorrow with quite a large multinational revenue 10-15 billion. I applied for the job not expecting to get any response. They had a low salary range down so I thought I'd be cheeky and answer the Expected salary question and put an extra 10k on. Thing is now Ive an interview, would they bother interviewing me unless they were OK with my salary range?

First interview for a while, been in the same job albeit with promotions for 3 years wish me luck!!!

im guessing they wouldnt waste their time if your salary was way out of range of what theyre willing to pay. I had an interview and they offered me less salary than what i asked for, but said that if i did a good job during my probation period they would give me the salary i wanted after 6mths.
so they may try to negotiate something like that with you too
    good luck

Please do not take a job where they say they would offer you more money after your probation!! My friend did and it turned out sour, actually she even got laid off after 5months+ she was gutted as she put so much hours into the job.

Xcellor, you applied for the job and you filled your desired salary. They invited you for an interview because they can afford to pay what you are asking. Stick to your guns! Especially if you have the expereince and knowledge.
All the best tomorrow, and do let us know how you get on

Did the interview. It went well but from the way they talked it seemed like they felt that my current experience was too much for the position they had. they were talking the job down...

It seems they mixed up my applications and interviewed me for an IT Analyst role instead of the Business Support Administrator that I had applied for

I guess I'm getting to that stage where entry level positions just dont suit my CV anymore. They said they would be in touch before end of week for details on second round interviews. I'd say I'll pass if I'm offered one.

It's done it's done; i suppose you enjoyed the experience :)

OK I got a call. I'm onto the second round interview.

While not being the best job, it will pay more and have less responsibility... It is also two minutes from where I currently work so it's not adding any commute time on.

    Less work = More money
More work = More responsibility = Better CV

I think I will go to the second round. Should not kill options before you need to.

OK went to the second interview and think I nailed it... Just have to wait and see if they offer it to me. They said they would let me know by Monday so soon enough...

The job sounded more interesting this time around... like quite varied.

    Let you know what happens.

Fair play, you have to take us for a drink after your first pay :)

i.e. when you get the contract, i believe we all know you have it in the bag alright :)

OK I had the second interview Feb 28th and was told I would hear the next week.

I sent a thank you very much email to the manager who interviewed me. She confirmed they would be in contact last week. Well I left it all week. Nada.. Nothing.

How long should I wait before following up? Im thinking that I should have heard something by now. Perhaps they have made the offer to someone else and waiting for him/her to accept before flicking me? I'm not sure. Both interviews went well but my salary expectations were probably a bit high although I said them in the first interview and reaffirmed in the second.

Should I give it a few more days. I dont want to sound desperate but on the other hand I don't like being in limbo land.

I waited something like 6 or 7 weeks before to hear about a job I was convinced
I had in the bag. They said they'd be back to me within 2 weeks so after
6 or 7 I rang them only to be told that not only did I not get the job ... but they
had totally forgot about contacting me!!!

Then I got the patronising ...
"We really though you were a great candidate ... you should have no problem finding something else"

I hope its not the same in this case although I cant imagine they do second interviews with heaps of candidates so there is no excuse for "forgetting" although really with any professional company there should be no reason to forget at all !

I would say they have no idea about your salary request.

Have you mentioned salary to them yet? If not, I'm fully expecting them to say, "Oh, we can't offer you that."

They asked me on the first interview what my salary expectations and I gave it to them straight, I would expect X. They asked the same on the second interview I told them I would expect X agai

Oh well guess I'll wait a day or two more then follow up...

I hate playing the wait game, btw i hope you haven't handed in your notice?

Of course I haven't that would be really dumb. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush! I've a mortgage I can't afford to be weeks without a job so I'll hold onto the job I get and flick it once Ive a job offer in writing.

I wouldnt be that upset if I didn't get this job but it would have been nice to have an ace up the sleeve! Got another second interview with my dream job on Friday... Now I would be gutted if I didn't get that especially since I've been studying like crazy for it...

I'll give this crowd a buzz tomorrow if i dont hear anything.
