Well found out this morning the frisbee intervarsities were on beside my house today so thought t was a good chance to give my new camera its first run out(30d with canon 90-300 4.5-5.6)

iir i was shooting at iso 300 or there abouts and at f 4.5 for the second half of the shots shutter speed was around 3000 i think to begin with but i thought things were too bright so i moved it to around 5500(battery is charging so i cant check exactly)

i dont really know how to include the images in the thread so if someone wants to pm me an explanation that would be cool otherwise ill check the stickies in a sec

    heres the set

one or two are quite a bit over exposed..and the first few are a tad under exposed. And i highly doubt you lowered the shutter speed from 1/3000 to 1/500 to make it darker... other way around, probably :) or maybe 1/300 -> 1/500

I think there's a few ok ones there, like the ones with action in them, 2 players and the frisbee in between them, etc.. - you'll need to work on composition as some shots have the players in all sorts of places on the shots. one in particular has a load of foreground which does nothing for the shot. With sports, you should always crop after as tight as possible to the action :)

Not bad for a first try. Keep at it - and maybe if you're heading to the meet next weekend you'll pick up a few things :)

For the record, that wasn't the intervarsities. It was UL's first time hosting an open tournament: The Siege of Limerick. There were a lot of cameras at that final so we might well see some more shots on here in the next few days
