bought a kit from guitargadgets.com(the marshall blues breaker)i laughed out loud when the kit came first(the circuit board was tiny and you had to put about 25 components on it)but after i got over the initial shock it all went very smooth.i soldered all the big stuff first and then moved on to the smaller components.it took about 10 hours all together.there is a bunch of other kits that you can get(the blues breaker worked out at about 45 euros all in.i know people will say for a few more euros you can get the real thing.but the joy off building this thing and plugging it in seeing the red led light up and getting the lovely overdrive through the amp was something special.

Some US companies have issues with European credit cards etc.
Also, customs could have been a problem.

    Just curious anyway...

How long from time of ordering to delivery?

Gonna get me one of those Bluesbreakers...

no problems with customs at all(i still dont know the full story with them people anyway)it arrived in about 4 days.all the circuit diagrams and fault findings are on the web site(you dont get any diagrams with it)all you need is a soldering iron and a pair of steady hands.i put mine together and put the power on and it worked first time.

BTW, anyone else interested in doing this be sure to check out these sites.

http://www.diystompboxes.com - excellent forum and also a massive amount of schematics and layouts

http://www.tonepad.com - schematics, build reports, hints and tips on modifying certain schematics (eg. substitution of parts)

http://www.muzique.com - Jack Orman's website, he's big in the DIY FX world and has drawn a lot of schematics you see around. He also has a fair few on his website along with some nice articles on various things to do with effects. Also sells printed PCB boards.

http://www.geofex.com - Tonnes of schematics and a few great articles and information guides on doing certain things (eg. soldering)

http://www.runoffgroove.com - more schematics, but a lot more detail and information on each. Great for a beginner as it shows everything you need to know about each pedal and most of all these are all proven to be correct.

http://www.buildyourownclone.com - Looking to get your feet wet but not jump in fully yet? check out BYOC, they supply kits with everything you need to know along with instructions that walk you thru each step. The kits are clones of many very famous effects.

http://www.generalguitargadgets.com - They supply pcb boards and parts, usually relating to schematics on tonepad.com

I'd appreciate it if a mod threw this into the musical instruments sticky, I don't think there is anything else like this in there. Might be helpful. ;)
