Has anyone an x1250 lexmark all in one printer/copier/scanner? Do you know how to test print direct from the printer itself? There is some info hard coded to the printer. it will not communicate with the PC

How to self text the x1250,
General print problems with Lexmark Printers, the print spooler program quits, usual fix, turn off printer, re boot the computer, turn on printer, you may be asked if you want to print documents, and say yes to question. Otherwise try printing the job again.

Thanks for that! I have tried all the switch on/off/reboot etc. I was asked if I wanted to print i said yes but it gave me the printer can't communicate with the computer. Ok I got the printout. Is it possible the printer part can be gone west but the scanner still works

O.K. Try the following in order. If one works then ignore the others.

    1. Carefully check the USB cable is plugged into both the computer and printer, I have seen some become dislodged by vibration of the printer, best disconnect and then re-connent both ends.

    2. I am assuming you are working on a XP machine, to see what the computer thinks go to Start, then Control Panel, double click on Printers and Faxes, see if your printer is listed if so it may say either offline of online underneath the name, if offline, right click and choose Use printer Online, otherwise try Cancel all Documents (if shown)

    3. It this does not clear the problem you may have to look at reinstalling the printer, you must have the printer software disk which came with the x1250 of a copy downloaded from lexmark. If this is necessary first delete the existing printer, then insert the driver disk and follow the instructions. It might not be a bad idea to re-boot the computer before you try delete/reinstall as this is slow and cumbersome.

I have checked this several times

    2. I am assuming you are working on a XP machine,
Printer is installed on an XP, I wa trying to instal it as a network printer on vista. I downloaded drivers for vista and installed therm on vista
to see what the computer thinks go to Start, then Control Panel, double click on Printers and Faxes, see if your printer is listed if so it may say either offline of online underneath the name, if offline, right click and choose Use printer Online, otherwise try Cancel all Documents
It is online and has a white tick in a black circle above it. It will scan but will not copy or print. I think it does the copy part but then i get the printer cannot commiuicate with computer. In properties it says it is on USB virtual printer port

I have reinstalled several times/did the reboot too. Thanks

The Vista bit is a nasty surprise !
Can I assume that your have an XP driver installed on the XP machine
Is it the XP machine that can not print to x1250
    The following http://support.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/knowledgebase.cgi?ccs=227:5:0:568:0:0&displayCategory=TopDocs
is a link to the Lexmark troubleshooting page for the x1250.
Have you enabled sharing on the printer driver on the XP machine

    http://support.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/knowledgebase.cgi?ccs=227:5:0:568:0:0&framed=&docid=ENUS27756&relevance=1
is a link to a clean up routine which might be useful
It is essential the the XP machine can print before the Vista machine can be networked to it.

I downloaded the CleanupUtility from ftp://ftp.lexmark.com/driver/inkjet_drivers/Cleanup/ and it worked.

First disconnect USB from PC/printer then run Cleanup.EXE to clean the drivvers. It will reboot automatically when you click OK. Then connectthe PC to printer and reinstall. Thanks all
