A UN force of about 1600 troops has been prevented from leaving Eritrea after they attempted to move to Ethiopia. The UN force attempted to get to Ethiopia after the Eritrean government cut off their fuel and food supply. The Eritreans claim they have simply ran out of supplies to give the UN, but it does not explain why the UN force has not been allowed to leave, or why as the BBC puts it "some troops have been threatened at gunpoint".

Its unlikely the UN force will actually starve out there, but its a useful demonstration of the UNs relevance in the world. Ill bet the people in Darfur cant wait for the UN to show up so they can have another Srebinica.
