    Hello there.

I'm thinking of buying a camera from www.7dayshop.com Anyone do this? Are you caught for import duty if you do? I buy some stuff from them regularly but never pay duty. It's usually around €100 or so.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Freddie.

They seem to be a German company, if so then you wouldn't be paying custom duties as it is within the EU (the duty was paid for as it entered the eurozone already).

Thanks as always Thirdfox.:) They're actually located in Guerney, and it states on their site that the pay all UK VAT and import duty, but outside of the UK you may have to pay import tax and duty. A bit strange, isn't it?

i havent bought a camera, but i would say be careful of their returns policy, as standard i think you only have 7 days to return an item

it took 3 weeks for my filters to arrive :(

    On that page it states:
"all goods are in FREE CIRCULATION within the EU."
if this is correct then you cannot be held liable for VAT or duty (you're effectively paying the UK rate of VAT).

There are no issues with import or vat with 7 day shop, I have bought loads from them, no camera bodies though, 17-40 + 50 1.4 and boats of memory and filters, as has been said they use parcel force I think on big money shipments and they are soooooooooo slow as too is the normal royal mail for there small items.

Thanks for all the help folks. I have been purchasing from 7dayshop.com since about 2001, and have had only minor problems. However, it appears that they are very hard to deal with should anything go wrong with something like a camera body. They're working out at about €715 for the new Eos 450D (inc IS lens), and Komplett.ie are only €84 more expoensive, so for peace of mind I'll go with Komplett.

Interestingly, Pixmania.ie (usually very reasonable) are charging a whopping €960+delivery for the same kit.

Interestingly Komplett.ie had an expected delivery date of March 5th - that's now gone out to April 7th, which nearly ties with the US availability date. They had been stocking it at €749 with the lens, but that's now increased by €50.
