Firstly, are you sure they are lamping deer, maybe it's foxes ?

If you are SURE it's deer contact Gardai and/or game ranger ?

I think theres a licence available to lamp deer in certain circumstances, someone confirm ?

You can get lamping for deer on a section 42 permit

    Cheers Jonty, that's it.

Maybe it's being done legally ?

Is a section 42 not in relation to 'Crop Protection'???
Im not aware of too many crops been grown at this time of year.....( not a farmer so could be wrong, buts their is certainly none near me...)

the main crop that needs protection is forestry, espically hardwoods and they need it all year around.

grassland for grazing could be considered a crop. TBH I thought section 42s were only available during the summer months.

no these are just men out looking for heads there was a few cases where some one shot the deer and took the head and left the rest laying there in a build up area for everyone to see , don`t get me wrong theres nothing wrong with wanting a head but ya should take all with you and use the meat too

I heard there is a lot of this head-hunting going on. Trophies (head) taken and body left. What a shame, I know loads of people who'd take 'free' meat off shooters !

i've heard of this sort of cr@p happening up here before, it's a real sin. I would love if the guys at it where caught red handed and hit with the full force of the law...These muppets give the rest of us a really bad image and name in the eyes of the public....
