I've asked this before in other forums and have gotten no answer.

Whats the difference between buying a genuine n95 8gb off ebay that is sim unlocked (sim free) for about €400 and buying one in a vodafone shop on prepay that costs €600 or whatever it costs?

No one can give me any advice on this. Im with o2 speakeasy and have no intentions of getting a bill phone. I love the n95 8gb and would like to get one. However, since o2 are'nt bringing it out on their network anytime soon...my only other option is to get a sim free one off ebay. Presuming its not fake....what are the disadvantages to using this method?

The phone is serious. I've used my mates one on vodafone and its crazy. love it.

I was recommended to this forum as ye know yer stuff regarding this topic i'm told.

    Cheers.
    mike

Why not try www.computerbargains.co.uk for genuine CECT phones for 99 quid plus p&p. Does more than the N95.

You have as much protection buying a product on ebay as anywhere else. Check the sellers returns policy, rating, what is the procedure with a faulty produce etc.
The only other thing to be careful of, is the tax issue. where are you buying it from, will you have to pay custom & excise on it.
There should be no reason why the phone, shouldn't work completely normally though, with your own sim card in it.

What's a cect phone and why would something like that be so cheap compared to the likes of the N95?

How would I be able to find out that info?

A cursory look at the specs suggests otherwise.
As far as i can see no wifi, no bluetooth, no HSDPA, no GPS, no 5 mp camera, no proper browser etc etc all of which the N95 has.

Only cool thing i can see about them is that they're dual-sim.
