I dont think a PCI card would show up in the BIOs unless its own BIOs shows at bootup detecting devices... I've not used one before so I will stand corrected...

Google turns up many different manufacturers, google your manufacturers card and driver and see if a driver is needed, I think it could be, as for the Seagate PCI card a driver is needed for windows to detect the SATA device as "mass storage device",

    hope that helps somewhat :D

Yes, you will almost certainaly have to install drivers to get the card to work. If you go to the device manager, you may have an unknown device under the "SCSI and RAID controllers", and if Windows is clever enough and can ID the card, you may be able to install the correct drivers from here (right-click the unknown, and try "update driver..." or "install driver..."), whilst online.

Failing that, and if you have no documentation on the card, look at the biggest chips on it, and see what it says, most likely either VIA or NEC as manufacturer, and some numbers (mines a VIA VT6421), so smart googling will bring you to the files you need. I don't think there is anything generic that would work, you'll need something specific for your particular chipset.
