Samsung LE40M87 PC input problem

    Hi,

I'm having problems playing PC games with the above.

The PC is connected to the PC input on the Samsung LCD by a DVI to VGA D-sub cable.
The Samsung works fine as a display @ 1920 x 1080 resolution until I run a game, then the screen goes blue apart from the message 'input mode not supported' across the middle of the screen.
I have set up the PC for multiple & single monitor modes using the nvidia control panel, tried with SLI enabled & disabled-same result. Games tried so far include HL2, Bioshock, Crysis, same story.

I also tried the adjusting some of the TV settings, PC auto adjustment etc.
I think what might be happening is any game launched will start in the last resolution that was sellected when it ran-1650 x 1050 on a 22" monitor-and the Samsung won't recognize this?

Is there a setting I need to adjust on the TV for it to auto adjust to suit the incoming resolution?

Do I need a DVI to HDMI cable-would it make a difference?

From reading posts I noticed a few people here have the same TV, any one here have similar issues/know a work around?

    Cheers.

    G.

Thanks branners, nice find. I think the issue is with the cable I was using. Found a post re. similar issues, turns out that pin 9 on the VGA end of the guys cable was not connected-this is needed for the TV to talk to the GFX card-as in what resolutions are available.

Borrowed a proper DVI > HDMI lead off a mate and all works perfectly.
