just read about this on the betfair forum. Lets hope he's ok, I've been looking forward to him clashing with Denman since the latter won the Hennessy. One of the few genuine superstars the sport has seen over the last few years, would be criminal if he couldn't defend his crown

is that md soobbing i can hear? i wouldnt be too worried as the way it is worded its media hype -no cause for concern just yet , 5/2 on betfair denman gone near evens ,

remember kicking king b4 he won the gold cup ? istabraqs bleeding nose? the only thing these injury scares affect is the horses price on the markets temporarily

It is knighted along with any other true racing fan in the whole of the british isles id imagine. This would be a disaster for the sport, the most eagerly awaited clash since i have been into racing not going ahead would be heartbreaking imo.

I pray this turns out to be nothing major and he gets there 100%.

According to Harry Findlay it is an infection in the hoof. A week on the easy list and all should be fine.
Anyone who took the 6.4 on Betfair has done a shrewd bit of business. Levelling off now at around 3.9

i agree it would be a disaster and i wont be having a bet on the race as i believe it is one to savour this year .there is always going to be a big scare with such high profile horses -but i immediatly thought of you md when i heard the news as i know you adore him

Like all these things, we will know more in the morning. Lets see what the damage is then. I'm sure they have poulticed it tonight and hope it is ok tomorrow. If it is an infection, depending on how bad, then he can recover in time. If it is anything else, it depends on how bad it is and how good a patient he is.

Just hope this is not serious as I'm really looking forward to this showdown.I thought it may have been a three horse fight but Kicking King's performance today says otherwise. The thought of Cheltenham without Kauto Star v Denman is not a nice one and would be a dark cloud on the festival.

Well everything is clearer now. As I suggested, it is always better to wait and get a clear picture in the morning before jumping to any conclusion, like half of betfair forumites did. It seems that is is an infection and the poultice has done the trick. Common method of getting the puss out and now that it is clean, a short stint on the sidelines should see him back in training mid to end of week. No problems as he would have had a quiet day or two anyway. As long as they look after it and it doesnt get reinfected, it should be fine. But does highlight how many people are ready to jump the gun at the first sign of smoke.
