SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 4GB with U3 USB Drive

I bought the above-mentioned USB Drive the other day, and it works fine on all computers, except my own. The U3 Launchpad starts up fine on any other computer, and an F: drive also appears on any other computer so I can access my files, but it does not work on my computer.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Any suggestions?

Just in case people aren't familiar with this technology: www.u3.com

That doesn't work, when U3 tries to initialize, I get Error Message 1010 which means that it has timed out.

What OS are you using , What computer are you using , what version of USB are you using and how many USB devices do you normally have connected ?

    Hi

Have a look at the forums for U3.

Just had a quick search and found this link, not sure if it applies exactly to you but seems like a good place to start.

There are numerous programs that will stop U3 from loading , particularly CD/DVD writing programs , but also some Windows utilities such as drive letter assigning and network access. All of these will give the 1010 error.

U3's only response to the issue so far is to uninstall these programs , clearly not acceptable when the PC you may be trying to use is not your own or an account limited work PC.

Its a stay away product for me until that is sorted at least.

Do you care about U3 at all? If not, just format it and you'll have a normal USB drive (with more free space).

I had a drive with that U3 stuff on it, would not work in college because it wanted to map to 2 drives, one of which was my network drive. Because i am not an administrator i could not change the drives.

    Solutions:
    1. Disconnect from the network drive, hook up the U3 device then reconnect to the network drive (it should go to a different letter)
    2. Delete the U3 software altogether...

If i was you i'd go with option 2...

Thanks for all the suggestions. A friend of mine fiddled around with my computer and managed to get it to recognise the drive with all my files on it. U3 still doesn't work though, but I suppose that doesn't really matter. I can now use it for what I intended to use it for.

    Still, would be nice though.

I think at this stage I'll just delete all the U3 crap and at a later date, if I want to re-install it, I'll just download the software or something.

    Thanks again guys.
