Screen goes blank after installing new graphics card

Hi everyone, I have an old dell 2400 with onboard graphics. A friend gave me a pci fx 5200 card. After I put the card in, the res was very poor, I loaded a driver downloaded from nvidia and when I rebooted the windows loading screen came on. When it had finished the screen went blank! I've tried everything but the same…

Can you access safe mode? If you can uninstall and reinstall the driver... The driver on the origional cd would be older and less up to date than the one from www.nvidia.com, shouldn't make a difference either way...
