Coachella festival

Looking to go far far away to a festival this year and have my sights set on Coachella. Totally class lineup (Kraftwerk, portishead....somewhat marred by the appearance of Jack Johnson but different strokes for different folks and all that) and the location's amazing BUT I have heard some odd stories. Read a Guardian review that said buying drink was crazily expensive and difficult, no drinking near stages only in specially created "beer pens" and you can't bring any of your own drinks in with you to the campsite. Bands finish early, security were apparently severely strict and have just received a mixed reaction in general. I'm verging on booking tickets anyway because of the lineup but I'd love to hear from anyone who's been or has heard first hand accounts of it.

If Tom Seleleck is going to this as well, surely the line up can only be improved by this wonderful man.
