Its a forum, and I was referring directly to the original post.

I'm not getting into a debate, hence the apology for being pedantic.

I'm not getting into this either.

Good to see the prizes up, will be a great day.

Attendance is all I think, and buy a ticket for the raffles, or compete in practical pistol which I think is also on?

Gatling, I'm raffling off a black SWAT Tact Vest as well as the "Multicam hybrid backpack/aeg transporter" (weird way to describe it!).

I was trying to get some PC's from were I work as prizes, but they wouldn't let me have them 'due to policy'. All due to the confidential data that USED to be on the harddrives. (Yes, I'm aware of data retrieval tools, but I could have destroyed the data on the hdd's forever)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Cheeky monkey

Just take out the hard drive? :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

Just take out the hard drive? :p

Nice prize......PC with no hard disk. :p

I was told that it was policy for the PC's to be crushed. Terrible waste to hardware.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Wipe the drives with a large electromagnet. Score the disk surface. Remove the control board. Drill the start point out of the disk (near the spindle). Snap the needletips. Shatter the disk. Send through press. Burn resulting dust. Capture fumes. Flashburn with ethanol-air mix under controlled conditions. Send resultant ozone gas out on 30 different long range rockets on unmatchable trajectories toward the sun strapped to a nuke.

That's the only sure fire way to make sure noone can read your data on a hard drive after it's finished being used.

Alternatively, tell your company to use IBM biometric systems, they're more or less infallable security wise. What a silly thing, to crush a motherboard or RAM because the harddrive had sensitive data on it. That's like sending a Tomahawk missile at an ants nest in your house to get rid of it.

bank of ireland actually gave my old school a load of puters years ago, id say they could have been packed with peoples confidential information.,

You can add a full metal Classic Army M15A2 Rifle to that list Gatling, Liam will be dropping it down around mid-day.

Alas neither of us can make it, unless someone wants to drop me back home around 5, which is highly unlikely.
I look forward to HRTAs next birthday. :)

Even though the member numbers are all four digit numbers:p

    "€250"
"going once, going twice, going three times, Sold to Lemming"

Actually Lemming's IAA number will be changed to reflect his purchase. It will be a special three digit number and the normal four digit number 7 will be removed from the database.
