Bergen accommodation

    Hey all,

I'm going to Bergen in August and wondered if anyone knew of any good accom websites, specifically for self-catering? Norway is very expensive for hotels and eating out, so I was thinking that an apartment might be the way to go. I found this website; http://www.bergen-guide.com/ but does anyone know of any others?

Also, any thoughts on the best way to fly?
I flew with Jet2 last time, but they don't seem to operate their Newcastle-Bergen route anymore. Alternatives seem to be Norwegian Air out of Stansted, or via Oslo with SAS-anyone know of cheaper options?!

    Many thanks folks,
    Marianne

I stayed in Montana Hostel, relatively cheap and as you'd expect from Scandinavian hostel, it's clean and comfortable, it's a bit away from centre of town though but is only 10mins on bus. They also have a large kitchen for guest use. Not sure if you'd consider a hostel but you'll find more info here: http://www.montana.no/montana-youth-hostel-bergen.asp?sprak=3

Not sure about flights as i arrived by train from Stockholm, don't Ryanair fly to Haugesend though? Possibly take ferry from there to Bergen, nice way to take in fjords etc as well. Enjoy the trip anyway, its a beautiful part of the world....

Montana hostel is a good place by all accounts, plus the view is stunning.

    Lots of other possibles here:

Best way to fly is: Ryanair (ughhhh) to Stansted and then Norwegian to Bergen, get the bus to city from Flesland airport as the taxi's there are the most expensive in Scandinavia

Lots of webcams from in and around Bergen to keep you going here:
