    Hello,

I lost my power cable for my laptop, are they expensive to replace. although i know they arent universal i have tried a dell laptop charger in it and it works, its 90v and connects to a round male connection on the laptop. The laptop is a compaq 2529ea but the charger is actually hewlett packard.

Any ideas where i can get a new one consider the shops in my local town are expensive and have to send away for it so id like to buy it online prefereably also how much can i expect to pay?

    What about this?

I would buy one on ebay myself, but i wouldn't go for the cheapest option, the one you show, seems to be ****e tbh, wouldn't touch it. I'd try to find one that was made for your computer specifically and preferably made buy hp or compaq, which ever it is.

its not worth buying a cheap charger that might mess your laptop up. Your better looking for one thats the same, try looking for a second hand one

Maplin do a universal charger for around €40 (I think). Fits my 2529ea no problem.

you should be able to find an OEM (Oroginal Equipment Manufaturer) power supply on ebay as well as the el cheapo ones, so just go for one of those.

do a search (inc. 'title & description' tickbox) for your model of laptop and/or the serial no. of your current broken PSU and see what comes up.

before you buy from anyone check previous feedback for selling more of the same and see if anyone has cried 'fake' on any old sales. also confirm via ebay msg that it's a genuine part and not a fake, that way if you get it and it turns out to be dodgy, you'll have some comeback with ebay/paypal (always use paypal so you do have some comeback).
