No scheduled flights from Ireland, some travel agents sell seats on the chartered flights but usually they are v. expensive- at least 300euro each one way

I'd go with a tour company. Try Sunworld and a few of those types as well as Budget.

Turkish Airlines fly from Dublin to Izmir, via Istanbul. Izmir airport is about one and a half hours north of Bodrum town. (A little over an hour north of Bodrum/Milas airport).
Turkish Airlines are not cheap either though. A bit cheaper if you are not flying in July or August though and if you book early. I have just seen in some paper article that Sunway are selling flights for approx. €319 direct to Izmir also.
Another option is to fly with Cyprus Turkish Airlines from London (from a few London airports, also Manchester) direct to Izmir. You could get a cheap Ryan Air flight to Stanstead or Manchester and fly on from there. Still not cheap though. Also try German Wings who fly Dublin/Cologne, Cologne/Izmir. Still not cheap, but an option. They fly a few days a week, but be careful. There might be only one or two days that the flights will link up.
If you fly into Izmir the only transport out of there is a bus to Izmir bus station (about half an hour north of airport in opposite direction to Bodrum) and a bus from Izmir bus station to Bodrum centre.
You can also book a transfer, with a private company, from Izmir airport to Bodrum, or bargain with a taxi from the airport. Either way it will cost at least €100. You are better to hire a car for about €70 for 2 days. Put any of the above options into google and you will find details. Bodrum is just a tourist/holiday resort airport, but Izmir is a city airport and operates all year round.
I have been hearing for about 5 years that Ryan Air are going to fly to Izmir, but it hasn't happened. Can't understand why as thousands of Irish people have villas and apartments in Turkey and fly there all year round. Not cheap to get there at the moment though. Hope this helps.
