    Hi guys,

I work in Newstalk radio station and we're looking to talk to people who have been members of boards.ie for a while and who have formed friendships or started a club from the people they met on the site...something along those lines, any good stories that have come from you being a member of the site! If that's you then get in touch with us at life@newstalk.ie smile.gif

This is, a serious thread. The "spam" was unintentional I believe. If people could give good answers it would be great.

Yeah, I initially deleted this and banned the OP before being instructed to do otherwise, so I know where you were coming from with your post. ;)

Helen, you're unlikely to get many helpful posts as boards.ie tends to be the first place lazy market researchers come when they're looking for data on the average Irish internet user.

Assuming you're doing a piece on boards.ie itself, there are many good stories of how this site has affected peoples lives. I believe there's a few old thread on this if you use the search function, there's quite a few couples who've gotten together through this site and the 'boards beers' which are held every few months. There are even a few boards.ie babies!

Good luck with your story and the search function is your friend!

There are a few clubs that have formed via boards.
    There is a photography club
a few private non public ones and how can we forget the boards football team. A club within itself!!

As with any major online community you will get alot of people that share the same interests and meet in reality at many of our 'boards beers' and often after form a solid freindship or relationship.

We also have a very big and popular sub-site called www.adverts.ie, where by we allow people to sell/swap any (legal) goods.

Well there's groups formed on the Paranormal Forum, with one group of use organising a big Convention in Dublin this year.

The ladies lounge is a very new forum but we have regular meet-ups (usually once a week) for drinks/cinema/coffee. I'd consider most users I've met friends and I'm sure the others feel the same. if you look at the LL meet-ups thread in the ladies lounge you'll see a lot of people have got quite close.

Same with BGRH, there's a beers tonight and there seems to be a good crowd going. It's a lot of fun and I'd imagine if you were new in Ireland (maybe even Dublin) it would be a great way to meet people. Even if you're not new to Ireland/Dublin there's lots of posters on the ladies lounge who felt there social circle was shrinking as people got older and settled down. Now posters have an expanded group of like-minded friends to socialise with.
