Can anyone recommend some good photography magazines... the shelves seem packed with them, so its hard to decide.

I guess what I would be looking for would be magazines that have good articles generally regarding techniques, tips etc. Also, if possible including reviews etc of all the latest equipment...

    thanks
    C

I know what you mean, there are so many. I took a chance with digitalSLR photography magazine.
This months one was the first photo mag I have ever got and there is a great section explaining all about aperture.

Will be getting next months aswell but would like to know if there are any other good ones?

I tend to change from month to month depending on whats reviewed, explained etc., this months (march issue) of Photography Monthly has some good reading, and a glowing review (another!) of the D3.....ummm too soon to upgrade the D300?!!

I usually pick up Digital Camera which tends to strike a nice balance between tutorial stuff, reviews and stuff that people have sent in for review. it does be pretty good!

I really like Practical Photography, has some really useful articles, which as the title suggest are very practical. lol. :) . It has step by step guides on how to achieve certain pictures..Tends to contain more interesting articles and content where I find some of the other photo mags have too many "commercial features" which are merely adverts in the form of articles..
Its annoying to see so many photo mags having these features instead of writing their own fresh ideas.. Gotta pay the bills I guess but ruins the mag.
Its probably a matter of personal opinion so buy and few and see what you prefer.

I used to buy just random mags, but now I am sticking to Digital SLR User. You can also find them on www.dslruser.co.uk, there is gallery page for your own photos and a few competitions.
One of my photos was actually published in this months issue, so it's not that difficult :D

I've been getting Practical Photography on and off for years, I have a pile of them in the wardrobe. Recently started getting dslr user and a few of the other ones the jury is out on some of the others.

PP is grand, but gets very repetitive.

Professional Photographer or Digital Pro are ok, if only for keeping up with news and gear porn, and a few business ideas. Personally, I wouldn't look in a photography magazine for great photos - I go for fashion mags, social rags, and the odd wedding magazine for inspiration...
