Phone freezes

I've had a Nokia 3120 for about 2 years now (it spent 9 months in a press, unloved and unused as I was away) so it's only being in use for just over a year. In the last few weeks it intermittantly freezes when I'm texting. The screen freezes, goes black and then turns on again but the msg I was typing will always be gone. This is starting to get really annoying. I work on a building site so could it be the dust getting into the phone? I also drop it at least once a week, this usually results in the back coming off and sometimes the front and keypad too but no problems with putting it back together. I never turn my phone off , a friend suggested this could be the problem but doubt it.

I can't afford a new phone for a while so will just hang on to it but just wondering is this a common nokia fault?

The phone needs to be turned off.

Think of it as a little computer, if you never restarted your computer in work after about 2 weeks it would be dog slow. I restart my pc daily in work as it has some memory intensive apps running. If I left it for 3 days or more it would be pretty slow.

Restart the phone twice a week and you should see a difference, it only take a few seconds to do it.

Thanks a million, I'll turn it off at night in future. I don't need it on anyway and don't use it very much, it's just a habit to leave it now. That's great that it's not broken.
