Something thats been bothering me a bit.

My companies HR department has asked me to benchmark mt IT teams salaries. They have given me a list of surveys to use as evidence to the emploeyes that they are getting paid too much.

Now i know that my company paid the consultants for these surveys and made it clear that if they dindt get a favourable result (ie low salaries) that the consultants would not get the job next year.

I have looked at these reports and can say hand on heart that they are outrageously low.
But i have to be complicit and help them screw the other staff.

    Its not fair at all.

Has anyone else seen this happen in their companies. Ive asked around people i know in HR depts and its very common.

Im going to privately tell the lads that they should do there own research and bring it in. Also to ask HR if they have paid or recruit from these consultants at all. ie Are they really independant at all. And to question HR thouroly on it and not accept it.
