Doing a project on Nxt mindstorm for My mechanical engineering course and Iv been put to finding information on The light sensor which the NXT mindstorm uses, Tried searching around on the internet but couldnt find anything useful, even tried books in the libraries and nothing there. Internets results only have broad results about light sensors for cars but i need specific information about how the light sensor on the NXT works and its schematics.
If its possibel could someone please help me on this? Any information will really help! Thanks! :)

What sort of light levels can it measure?? For that application i would imagine lots of light sensors would do the job, eg CDS cell (LDR) or simple photo diode + amplifier. CDS cells are now banned under the ROHS directive as they contain cadmium.

Why not buy one and take it apart?? post some pics here and we'll help you identify it.... :D
