    is this guaranteed or not??????
i find this post confusing, (misleading but probably not on purpose)
i couldnt help notice that its on the very next week of the student chamionship in dublin, wouldnt you be better off either doing it at another time (when students have the chance to play both, we're not made of money you know) or joining up with steve for a really big event where you both could guarantee a prize between you
i played in one of your tourneys before and you dont seem like a stupid person or mad and i am probably hitting the nail on the head a bit here, but ,,,,,,,
well,,,, have you gone to war?

I dont know how its misleading its on the date we state its dealer dealt and its €5,000 added if 100 runners . It aint rocket science

1.1st and Foremost this is a Bodog event we are running and did not schedule

    2. We are being paid a fee to run the event

3.It is not only open to student but to all players

4.Me and Steve have totally different events and this event was posted up 2 months previous . His Student Championship will be a huge sucsess and we are in no way in competition to that .

5.We will sell 100 tickets for this alone in our two clubs and the college before we start so the $5,000 will be added

6.Being on a week after the Championship is worse for us but we will have a local crowd for this regardless

have the guys from the DIT "€20 FO. $5,000 Guaranteed" got their money yet from BoDog?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭AdMMM

Just to clarify a few things that have been mentioned above.

Bodog are adding $5000 to the live event AND $5000 to the online event the following night.

There is effectively zero registration on this event. €40 will go towards the prizepool of the event and the remaining €10 will be added to your Bodog account which will allow you to play the $5000 event the following night without the need for a credit card.

I'm afraid the timing is unfortunate rather than planned. I had been postponing this event to allow Stephen time to announce his own event. Given the difficulties he was experiencing with his event, I could no longer delay the organisation of our event and settled for the 10th April. As it transpired, Stephen announced his event for the week prior. At no point did we intend for these events to be so closely scheduled. Let me re-iterate that this is a WIT event. We want our event to be as professionally run and as successful as possible and I felt that Neill and co at BigSlick were my best option to ensure that this can happen the way I want it to.

I suppose the big one announcement for everyone is that: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A STUDENT TO TAKE PART IN THIS EVENT. While we at WIT will be promoting the event heavily within the college, we realise that an event with this GUARANTEED prizepool and of the caliber that BigSlick provide should be available to all that are interested because to put it quite simply, tournaments like this don't come about often and we want it to be a successful as we feel it can be.

Do I need to sign up to Bodog prior to the event?
We will be announcing pre-registration details within the coming days. In short, it's recommended (if you can) that you sign up to and deposit on Bodog prior to event to speed up the registration process on the night, but should you find yourself being unable to register and deposit, there will be facilities available on the night to help you do so and a Bodog rep will be on hand to help you get to grips with the software.

I'm travelling from afar, where can I stay?
We want to make this event as easily accessible for people who intend to travel, so I have arranged special room rates in the Tower Hotel for anyone who's interested. The hotel is located in the city centre so there is plenty of nearby restaurants to keep anybody who is knocked out "pre-maturely" entertained for the night, although we hope that the availability of cash tables will mean that you won't have to stray too far away from the hotel.

    I'm hungry.
However much we'd love to, our society budget doesn't stretch to giving all players a free meal (there's no such thing as a free lunch after all), but we have arranged with the hotel that there will be a plentiful supply of sandwiches and bar food available at the break for prices that won't set you back an arm and a leg.

    I want to get langered
As the event is being held on a weekday, it's nigh on impossible for a bar extention to be granted but there will be a fully equipped bar in the room of the competition which will be open normal bar hours (until midnight). For anyone staying at the hotel, you can avail of the residents bar which is open until 4am. Please bear in mind that if anyone overdoes it, they may be penalised as per the rules which will be fully documented on the day.

I got sucked out on and want to play cash.
We hope to have several, fully-dealt cash tables in operate through the night

    So, who are Bodog?
Bodog are "digital media" specialists who have interests in music, television, sports betting and poker amongst many other things. They are primarily based in the US where they are one of the most recognisable firms in online gaming. With regards poker, they are probably best known for running guaranteed tournaments with massive overlays and because their target market is the young affluent male, the standard on their site is notoriously bad and even I was able to spin a modest sum into a respectable amount in a short space of time.

I want to play this, but only have enough money for the NSPC
We know that money is a worry for many students and we know that some can only commit to play in one tournament. As a result, we have arranged with Bodog to run a few guaranteed satellites on their site through the Easter break which will allow those on a tight budget to qualify for as little as €5. As I mentioned before, it's unfortunate that the NSPC is being held so close to our date, but there's nothing I can do to prevent this. All I can do is state what we're offering our players and allow players to qualify through great value satellites. It's up to you, the player, to decide which event you wish to attend.

As I'm sure you can understand, this is a seperate event and as such we have no ties to the DIT-run event. In order to protect the integrity of our sponsor though, I will happily chase up any issues you may have but bear in mind that without knowing the final placing and their usernames, I can't be of much assistance.

PM me your contact details and I'll get in touch asap.

Not quite 1500 but yeah they didn't get anywhere near the numbers they expected, not quite sure why

Cheers for that. I'll pm you now.
Btw I am not suggesting there is connection between this and the DIT event but I assume your in contact with same people from bodog that contacted DIT so this should help me ask the right people

Best of luck with this lads.....This is absolutely fantastic value, the only reason that the numbers didn't turn up in Dublin is because the word didn't get out around the players (also it was restricted to students)....I'm sure that once you get the word out about this tournament you will easily fill it.

Would have been interested in this game if the sponsor was anyone other than BoDog. Don't want to go on a rant, but, has anyone ever managed to withdraw funds from this site?
Briefly, deposited there twice. Credit card and neteller. When I went to withdraw they wanted front and rear of the credit card faxed to them! Email attachments not acceptable.
Never had such a request from any other site(Stars, Fulltilt,PPP, Mermaid, CD,Everest,Paradise or VC). Mansion did request ID, but at least they let you email it to them.
Ended up donkeying off what was left in my account, and not playing there again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭AdMMM

Yup, Bodog used to be pretty horrible for withdrawals, they have improved dramatically in recent months. Plenty of people will echo that on forums like 2+2.

I'll be able to finalise satellite schedules and pre-registration methods sometime tomorrow.

Right, I'm just wondering if there's actually any interest for online sats for this. I'm flirting with the idea of running satellites through the Easter holidays (15th March - 31st March) once a week, most likely on a Sunday before all the big guarantees start on the various networks.

How much would you guys be willing to pay to enter this sat? And more importantly would you even be interested in satting into a €50 event?

Registration will open 1 Month before start date
