    Lads, what is the best way to look up the past history of a car? Are there websites that anyone can recommend? I've been looking but all I can find are paid sites ... are there any free sites or free ways of doing this?

    Sites found;
    cartell.ie
    motorcheck.ie
    carsireland.ie

    Thanks in advance,
    G23

    Look at the service history.
    And call the garages who did the work.

    Check NCT documentation against mileage, also if serviced regularly check if mileages of services carried out correspond to the service intervals of the car - if the service interval is 10k miles and it appears to have been serviced every 10k km, then suspect incorrect mileage (eg clock adjusted to miles equivalent of actual miles reading if the actual miles reading was taken to be km - which can happen if the service record is ambiguous or incorrect as to whether miles or km figures are quoted)
