Hi All. First Post to Boards. I have a 1973 Saab 96 in need of a passenger door window. Some clown tried to take it last week, breaking the window in the process. Thankfully that was the extent of the damage, apart from keying the side of the car.
I'd really appreciate it if anybody knows where I might get a replacement window.
    Thanks for looking in.

It could be hard enough to find one of those as there wouldnt be many saabs of that vintage about in ireland as im sure you know. Maybe give e-bay a try, or place an add in buy and sell? Theres also a wanted section on adverts.ie which is part of boards.ie, look up at the header and you'll see it.Uim sure someone somewhere has a spare window for you.I hope you get sorted.

These guys specialise in Saabs from 95 (real 95 not GM 9-5) onwards

Thanks for replies. Havent sourced parts supplier so far, but I'm sure there is someone out there with a donor car or the emains of one.

If the glass is flat and not curved, you could get it cut (after a template) and toughened here in Ireland (Templemore to be precise, two companies there)

A friend of mine has a 4 door 1974 cherry that has the two back door windows made from polycarbonate as the previous owner couldnt get replacements, its tough an doesnt scratch easily, dont think it would work on a curved door though....

There's a good few Saab specialists here in Holland. If you contact me, I can put you in touch with a few crowds that do 2nd hand Saab 96/99/900 parts. I am sure they have 2nd hand windscreens and they will send abroad, or otherwise I can act as an intermediate...

I can't believe someone tried to nick the saab. Was this outside your house? did you call the cops ?

Hi guys. Still no luck with the window. The broken window is the passenger side on the Saab 96v4, not the 900 convertible. That one is fine. Thanks for all your help.

saab parts can be hard to source as theres no irish saab club as such ( hence why i sold my saab 9000 when the widnows got put in )

plexi-glass would be a good choice....

    Fair Play.

It's nice to know we have a professional (and general nice guy) like Paul_CCI on this site.
I for one, spend ages perusing his excellent website http://www.classiccarsireland.nl/home.asp
and picking out my purchases for when I win the Euro lottery:D

Edit: Throw us an old 3.0 csi there will ya Paul?
